With such a stellar running back, it’s difficult to imagine a team that struggles to score so much. On offense, the team is led by Stephen Jackson. In the NFL, Jackson is one of the best backs and had a stellar season last year despite the woes of the Rams. In 2010, Jackson will be an important tool again as the Rams turn to rookie quarterback Sam Bradford.

There are questions surrounding Bradford, although he is without doubt a talent quarterback. At Oklahoma, Bradford suffered an injury to his shoulder. During his last season, the injury was sustained and re-aggravated. Whether he will be a durable option to lead the team, because of this there are questions.

Bradford will have the arm strength, accuracy and mobility, when healthy, to make a difference on the field. Even when opponents get into the backfield, his mobility will make him dangerous. However, the Rams will not be able to just rely on him. On defense, they need help.

The defense struggled tremendously, last year. Many people wondered about these struggles made and why they would not draft one of the high profile defensive linemen that were available to be drafted. The Rams, if they hope to win more games this season, they will need big changes on defense.

In the French Open final, Federer was coming off a humiliating loss to Rafael Nadal, during which the Swiss won just four games. By edging Federer in the Wimbledon final, Rafa then backed it up in probably the greatest tennis match of all time. That one really hurt.

Federer didn’t immediately prosper during the U.S. Open Series, which intensified the malaise, failing to advance past the third round at the Masters stops in Canada and Cincinnati. Out went his 4½-year grip on the No. 1 ranking.

Then as he chased the singles gold medal he so desperately desired, Federer fell in the quarterfinals to James Blake at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, previously 0-8 versus the Fed. He didn’t even earn a bronze.
The fans in New York obliged, as Federer needed a pick-me-up. Federer received the biggest ovation at a parade of champions on opening night. Federer was infused with best wishes from a plethora of New Yorkers.

Federer, on his 11th visit got a similar backing, even though he already bagged a 16th major early this year at the Australian Open. His semifinal streak at Grand Slams is over and, for a spell, his seven-year stint inside the top two ended. Regaining the No. 1 spot seems unlikely, although he has not won any titles since Melbourne. Regaining the No. 1 spot seems unlikely. Many countries are now considering placing a tax on all internet gambling sites, which would generate billions of dollars for governments. This merger will combine Bwin’s concentration on sports betting and PartyGaming’s focus on casino games, which will allow each company to cut costs and reach a broader customer base. The current terms of the agreement allows Bwin to own 52% of the combined company.

More mergers within the gambling industry are likely to be seen in upcoming years. For now, online gambling remains illegal within the United States. The approved bill that would overturn the 2006 gambling laws is far from being enacted into law, because there are far too many opponents of the bill who say that the legalization of online gambling would increase gambling addiction problems.

Schleck received repairs. As Contador blew by, finishing 39 seconds ahead, Schleck‘s team lost the lead of the Tour de France. Although under such circumstances, it is cycling etiquette to wait for an opponent, it is not a rule.

On stage 17 of the Tour de France, the cycling world was focused on, as this would be Schleck’s last chance at vindication. Schleck regained the eight seconds he had lost to Contador due to the mechanical failure and he was set out to win the stage.

Schleck attempted to separate himself from Contador, as Stage 17 of the Tour de France was winding down to the last ten kilometer climb up Col du Tourmalet. Contador was right on Schleck’s back tire. In their head to head to head battle once, Contador did break for the front. “My attack was because I wanted to show him I had legs,” said Contador.

To shake Contador, Schleck tried several times. Contador never left Schleck’s back tire, although to make a dent in Contador’s eight second lead. After the race, Schleck said, “It wasn’t possible to drop him. He was too strong today.”

Schleck knows he also lost the Tour de France to Alberto Contador, although he did win the stage.

By allowing the Atlantic City casinos to take in sports bets, Lesniak felt that the state’s current financial strains could be lessened, thereby providing additional revenue. He claims that an additional $100 million per year could be pulled in by the state by bet on sports, if they rejected the federal ban.

While it may indeed increase the state’s revenue base, Governor Christie felt that the lawsuit was likely to fail and the state’s time and resources contributing to the lawsuit would be wasted. The Governor, through a spokesperson stopped short of dismissing the lawsuit entirely, in which the chances for success in the courts would be slim, although referred to it as a “legal longshot”.

Over the Governor’s decision, disappointment was expressed by State Senator Lesniak, as the former decided not to participate. However, he said that the lawsuit would be pursued as intended.
The lawsuit not only affects New Jersey but forty-five other states as well and it is an attempt to overturn a ban that was instituted in 1992.

Spain is trying to become the first team to win the World Cup after having lost their first match to World Cup odds favorite, Switzerland. To win the group and appear to be back on track, they played well enough during the rest of group play. Spain’s midfield that includes Xavi, Xabi Alonso, and Sergio Busquets is arguably the best in the tournament. Including their lone goal against Portugal, up front, striker David Villa has scored a tournament-best four goals.

For the first time in history, Paraguay is qualifying for the quarterfinals. By winning Group F and after defeating Japan on penalty kicks in their Round of 16 match, they have made it this far. Their defense has carried them in each game, having only given up one game in the four games they have played.

On the Spaniards, will be all the pressure. They were pegged as the favorites to win the World Cup and they have played well enough in recent games to be worthy of that designation, as the reigning Euro 2008 champs. They proved against Portugal that they can penetrate nine-man defenses and they will be favored against Paraguay.

Kendall Grove has struggled to this point in his MMA career. He has posted an above average record (11-7), but has never been able to perform at the level that he would have liked to. His opponent, Goran Reljic, has seen a lot of success in his relatively young career (8-1-1 career record) and will be a tough draw for him.

Many people see this fight as a “win or go home” type of match for Grove. It is expected that if he does not win, he will lose his spot in the UFC for the time being. That being said, this may not be the most favorable matchup for him. Goran Reljic is a stellar standup fighter and does not look like a good draw for Grove.

Reljic is not only a powerful striker, but he has produced some submission victories as well. This well-rounded nature makes him a tough fighter to crack. There will be some questions around him though, as Reljic did not fight for 2 years until fairly recently.

Despite the feeling that Reljic is the favorite, there is still a fight to be fought. Many people believe that the history and technique of these two fighters will not matter and that Grove will come out stronger than most expect him to in this fight.

These two teams are unfortunately the overwhelming favorites to be knocked out of the competition after their first matches here in Group F. With two strong teams to play (Italy and Paraguay), these teams are expected to buckle under superior play when they take on these squads.

This is why their match against each other is so important. The fact that they are playing each other first will give the winner the opportunity to build momentum going into their second match. If the winner of this match can bring that momentum to their match against Paraguay or Italy they might be able to sneak away a 2nd victory. If they win a second game they’ll likely advance to the next round of play.

This is a long-shot…but it’s really their only shot. Out of these two teams, World Cup betting favorite, Slovakia, is definitely the favorite to win the match. They are significantly stronger on both the offensive and defensive aspects of play. If things play out the way they should on paper, you can expect Slovakia to win the opener.

Don’t count New Zealand out just yet. This is the biggest stage that a team can play on. Some teams are able to rise to the occasion and perform when the pressure is on. Look for New Zealand to come out early with some strong play. They’ll need a miracle to take this game though.

Going into the match, the United States will be the favorites. After England, they are the consensus number 2 team of Group C. They will have played England six days prior to this match. They will play this match with a great deal of urgency, as they will need wins in their remaining two group matches in order to advance, if they lose to England.

Going into the tournament, the United States has relatively high expectations. In the Confederations Cup, they upset Spain last summer 2-0 and nearly beat Brazil. They have fell victim to injuries, however. forward Charlie Davies was left off the team after suffering multiple injuries in a car accident in October and Defender Oguchi Onyewu is coming off a patellar tendon rupture.

Schedule of Slovenia gets progressively more difficult as they begin the tournament. Against Algeria, they open the tournament and follow up by playing the USA (projected to finish second in Group C) and England (first). A win against Algeria will give the Slovenes a sense of excitement heading into their match with the USA, as another win would likely secure them a spot in the next round.

USA’s biggest weaknesses, defense, and it is one of Slovenia’s biggest strengths. In European qualifying, they allowed the second fewest goals.

Slovenia will need increased effort from their goal scorers, in order for them to prevail. Goals have been hard to come by for Slovenia, they most likely won’t shut out the US and will need some sort of offensive production to avoid a loss and are as great as their defense.

Tim Donaghy was caught a couple years ago for gambling, although much earlier than around 2003, his gambling and basketball betting practices began. Around this time, he began placing general bets but by December of 2006 he was releasing sensitive information to gamblers.

Donaghy got $2000 – $5000 for every bet he guaranteed with his calls and he and his buddy Jimmy Battista began a gambling strategy. He was convicted and was released on a $250,000 bond and faced up to 25 years in prison if the maximum charges were prosecuted. He was responsible for paying a $500,000 fine to the NBA as well as $30,000 to the government along with that. This event rocked the entire league.

To try and make sure that something like this doesn’t happen again, Commissioner Stern and the league are taking precautions. Many referees of different sports are willing to throw away their integrity for a few extra bucks, if the money is worth the risk.

Every sports fan hope that referees will call game from an unbiased perspective and let athletes compete at the highest level without playing favorites. Tim Donaghy scandal opened a lot of people’s eyes to the shortcomings of men in power.

Donaghy, along with Battista spent around 15 months in prison as they were pleaded guilty to two felony charges. It was suspected that 13 other referees were involved in the scandal, while these were the only two to be convicted and sentenced to jail time.
